WELCOME, KENT
– BTSSA sends
out a warm welcome to Dr. Kent Ulery, the
seminary’s new President. We look forward to Dr. Ulery’s arrival, and to
opportunities we will have
to help him settle in and feel welcome
here in Maine.
LUNCH AND TALK
– The
Board of Trustees is extending an invitation to students to join them for
lunch during the next Trustees meeting in Bangor (May 2
– 3). Look for your invitation in your email
inbox!
ELECTION TIME
– There are two offices open on the BTSSA
Leadership Council: Technology Officer and Bangor Campus Representative.
Nominations have been approved, and the election process begins on Monday,
April 14th.
Watch your email inbox for links to the electronic voting process. For
those without access, paper ballots will be provided on both campuses.
Elections close on Friday, May 2.

JUNE 6-8 2008 Course and OWL Training

Professor Marvin Ellison
will be offering a 3-credit intensive course in Portland on “Teaching Sexual
Health, Ethics, and Justice.” One component of the course will be a weekend
module June 6-8, offering the training for the Our Whole Lives (OWL)
sexuality education curriculum for grades 7-9/10-12. Instructors for the
OWL training will be Ann Hanson (UCC) and Rick Kimball (UUA). Students may
register for the OWL weekend only or for the entire course, which includes
the OWL weekend. Either way, the fee for the OWL training is $75.00 for BTS
students, $175 for non-BTS students. Space is limited, so register early.
Deadline is April 15. For more information, contact Professor Ellison at

Edwin Whitney Trust Fund Scholarship:
Preference for
this $1,000 is given to a Connecticut resident preparing for UCC
ministry. A student may apply for aid each year but total amount
awarded may not exceed $2,000 over the course of study. Application
deadline is June 9, 2008. The application requires an unofficial
transcript which must be requested from the Registrar’s Office. For

Scholarship Opportunity for UCC students:
The
Hale Donation:
established in 1803 in memory of Major John Hale, (grandfather of Capt.
Nathan Hale) to help underwrite the expenses of students preparing for
Christian Ministry. Eligibility guidelines include: financial need;
preferential treatment given to those from Tolland County, CT
(applications from other states are welcomed, however); and priority is
given to those preparing for ministry in the United Church of Christ.
Deadline is May 1 for

Financial Aid Opportunity
for those pursuing doctoral study
The Fund for Theological
Education (FTE) offers doctoral fellowships for
racial/ethnic students in religion, biblical studies,
and theology. African-American, Asian-American, Native
American and Hispanic students pursuing a call to
scholarship and teaching in those fields maybe eligible.
Students must be enrolled in a doctoral program (Ph.D.
or Th.D. only, D.Min. programs are not eligible) and
meet other criteria. For more information visit

Interested in the UCC National Youth
Event from July 24-28?
Michael
Huddy is seeking a motivated individual to represent BTS at NYE, which
will be held at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. BTS will have
a table at the exhibit hall and we are looking for someone who can
faithfully and enthusiastically represent BTS to over 3,000 youth and
their advisors and chaperones.
