To read comfortably any Greek Passage To memorize most Greek words used 150 times or fewer (I have trouble with the articles, pronouns, etc. - particularly the ones that look alike "Ti" for example).
Continue to practice and drill Work with study group.
Memorize the paradigms. As with Timoth, they just don't stick as well as they should. Continue to read and translate. Translate reinforces use of vocab and paradigms.

I would like to be able to memorize the paradigms (which for some reason I cannot commit to memory as of yet), I would also like to become quite familiar with the vocab words occuring 100-150 times or more and be able to read more fluently
practice, practice, practice. I would love to be able to continue working with others in a study group format
I am sure that by accompanying David on the Greece trip, I will return fluent in Greek and be able to clep out of the Spring Semester class. (then reality slaps me in the face and I see that I will need to continue with flash cards and study group in order to keep up)

I would like to continue to build my reading skills until they become fluent. I would also like to be able to commit the third declension to memory and be able to effectively use this in translation work. I would also like to grow my vocabulary from words used 100+ to those used 50+.
I plan to read aloud Matthew 6:9-13 each morning to work on my reading. I also plan to spend time writing out the paradigms on pages 161-163 to commit them to memory. I also look to drill myself on vocabulary 50+.
I plan to do some translation work each week. I plan to look at a portion of each New Testament passage from the lectionary and work through the translation in an attempt to build my skills. I feel like I am at a point now where I can work my way through this work and in time do it with much more ease.

My reading skills are good. I'm up to the 50-times-or-more in the vocabulary, knowing most of it except for the prepositions. And I was with you through Lesson 11. The voices and tenses are a blur. I'd like to have a better handle on these by the end of the semester.
Memorize and study verb parsing. Do exercises in the accompanying workbook.
I'm going to rent the video "Shirley Valentine," a film about a woman who is transformed on her vacation to Greece, sip a glass of wine, eat some Greek olives, and imagine that I am with the group in Greece. I may also review my vocabulary cards.

have all of the paradigms, declensions, and pronouns more or less cemented in my brain; be able to read out loud reasonably well; know all of the words occurring 155 times or more, and most of the words occurring 50 times or more. be able to parse confidantly.
study the memorization bits in the workbook. read my NT out loud. work with vocab cards. work on parsing and translation.
more of the same, but less intensely. i'd also like to use the computer program more frequently.

I have already achieved what I want to for this semester. I need to regroup and approach what I have learned from a different perspective. At this point, I have a small working vocabulary, I can sound out words and with practice read passages from the NT, and I have a glimmer of understanding of the structure of Greek sentences. I am not ready for additional information!
I feel like I have been building week-by-week the pieces that will create a beautiful stained glass window. Each lesson brought a different piece into existence and the beginning of a pattern was starting to emerge. Then it all fell apart and I lost confidence in what I was creating. I need to step back, look at the pieces and start putting in the "foil" that will hold those beautiful pieces of glass together.
I plan to build my study for January around reading the NT. First to just read the passage to hear it read. Then to try to translate it. A piece at a time, I'll review the lessons we have gone over in class and see how they apply to what I am reading. As I run into difficulties in translating, it will make it clear to me what I need to work on--better recall of vocabulary, parsing, analyzing the structure of the sentence--each day will hold its own requirements. I know I am not where I want to be yet, but i also know that I have the tools to get there, so thank you David for that.

It is my goal to be compfortable with the Greek vocabulary we are working on, to improve my memorization skills and be able to read with more ease, in adition to what we have as syllabus goals. I am am still finding it very hard to retain the lessons from week to week but want to be able to say I am as ease or comfortable with all our lessons.I really want to understand how a Greek sentence structure works and I hope to be able to parse without the frustration I feel right now.
I am already using the work book and reviewing continually, all our lessons and vocabulary. I don't read aloud as much as I should but will try to be faithful to try to do more of it. Personally this whole language learning experience is a struggle and a challenge but I will keep reviewing. So guess my ativities will be review, review, review.
During our break, it is my plan to use the text book and my work book a part of each day to keep the work fresh in my mind and I hope to work with "Greek Tutor" (last time I used it Icouldn't seem to get the drills but this year I am a little clearer with Greek. I know that in order to keep seeing improvement I will need to work throughout the break just to stay with the class. I also want to read from different passages in our NT and keep trying to memorize a little at a time.

My goals are very simple. I want to be able to exegete ant NT passage from the original Greek. I do not expect to be fast but I do wish to be accurate. I never intend to actually speak to anyone in Greek (thank God!).
I have been plodding along in the workbook, just translating the exercises as we were doing prior to the hiatus. I am not very fast, I might finish 6 items in one hour after that I begin to get somewhat orotund. I used to be fairly close to the answer, but I have found that the last few lessons I miss the exact translation in the book or I get stuck and have to look it up. (articles, pronouns etc.) Then I switch to vocabulary cards or the Greek Tutor software. At the moment six/eight hours a week on Greek including vocabulary. I carry the cards with me so if I have to wait in the dentist office or something similar to that I can catch a minute or two. I will know I am becoming more successful when my translations match the book answer better.
I expect I will drop back to 2 hours a week during break.

Learn all of the "50 times or more" vocabulary words. Be able to write out all of the paradigms we have covered. Be able to read Greek with fair fluency
Writing out the paradigms over and over seems to work. Also writing out lists of vocabulary words.
Review all of the above once a week so it's fresh in mind for second semester.
