Bangor Theological
Seminary announces a one year Visiting Professorship for the academic year
2008-2009.
The Visiting Professor will be based at the Portland campus and
be responsible for teaching six courses (three each semester), for student
advisement and routine faculty duties including committee assignments.
Although a completed Ph.D. is preferred, an ABD candidate may be considered.
Retired faculty persons are also invited to apply.
Our search is primarily directed
towards a scholar in Biblical studies who can teach New Testament and has an
interest in teaching Hebrew and Greek. Currently, we have a vacancy in New
Testament that will be filled in 2008-2009, and an anticipated vacancy in
Old Testament/Hebrew Scriptures that may be filled in that academic year or
the year following. Anyone appointed as a Visiting Professor in Bible will
be considered for one of those positions; both positions will be filled by a
national search.
In the event we do not locate a
biblical specialist, the Visiting Professorship may be filled by someone in
another theological discipline or in the history of religions. We invite
applications by women and people of color. Bangor Theological Seminary is
an equal opportunity, affirmative action, open and affirming employer.
Compensation will be entry level
at Bangor Theological Seminary and includes health insurance and retirement.
Retired persons’ compensation will be determined by negotiation.
Interested persons should send
their curriculum vitae and a letter of interest to Dean Glenn Miller,
GMiller@bts.edu, or Bangor Theological Seminary, Two College Circle,
P.O. Box 411, Bangor, Maine 04402-0411.
