New Faculty Appointments

Great News for the entire BTS Community!

The seminary’s search committees (made up of faculty, students, and alumni) for our open positions in Hebrew Scripture and in New Testament have completed their work.

After studying the profiles, reading the recommendations, and listening to the search committees’ reasons for selecting the particular candidates identified for the final pools, the topmost candidates within those pools all agreed to explore further the possibility of joining our faculty.

All now have visited both campuses, been interviewed individually by myself and by each member of the faculty, been introduced to the staff, and have given their public lectures.

Input from the students and others  hearing the presentations was gathered and I personally read and considered every evaluation form submitted, sharing the aggregate results with the faculty.

Each faculty member has presented me with personal reflections regarding every candidate, as well as met with me to discern collectively who is most qualified.

Truly we were blessed with a set of fine final candidates, each of whom would have brought significant knowledge and skill, education and experience, gifts and graces to the seminary.

After taking everything into consideration, two particular candidates emerged as the faculty's and my unanimous recommendation to the Board of Trustees.

Both "first-choice" candidates have heard and accepted our call.

With gratitude to God and with appreciation for the participation of the entire BTS community in the search process, the Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the appointment of Michelle Ellis as our new Instructor of Hebrew Scripture and Pamela Shellberg as our new Instructor of New Testament.

Both will begin on July 1st, with Pam being located in Bangor and Michelle in Portland.

Peace and joy!
