Bangor Theological Seminary “…On the Move”
Finding a Faithful Embodiment of Mission in Times of Change
A letter from BTS President William Imes:
Beginning in the Fall of 2005 BTS will occupy one wing of Bell Hall, which includes classrooms, bookstore, worship space, and faculty and administrative offices. We will share library, dining commons, athletic facilities and other resources with Husson. The Seminary remains an independent degree-granting institution. By moving before building a permanent home for ourselves, we can “test the water” and experience the nature of our relationship with the Husson community and the possible synergies that may develop out of it. The Portland campus will remain at the State Street Church and is not affected by this move.
Our trustees and I believe that God is calling us to be faithful to our identity and mission as a school of the Church for northern New England. We have a long history of taking persons without college degrees and educating and shaping them for ministry. We will continue to emphasize this important work through our Bangor Plan. At the same time we will continue to reach out to our second career adult students, nearly all of whom need to commute to our campuses in order to attend seminary. Therefore, we are committed to continuing to provide strong degree programs at both our Bangor and Portland campuses.
If you have any questions regarding the Seminary, or would like to arrange a visit to either campus, please contact the Admissions Office at 800-287-6781 x126 or enrollment@bts.edu. Whatever path you may be on, you will be received warmly into the fellowship and work of this school.
