FROM THE LIBRARIAN

I would like to begin this issue’s column by thanking Tom O’Donnell who, for a number of years, did the layout and supervised the reviews section of the Bulletin. Tom left Bangor Theological Seminary in 2001 to accept a position at the University of Maine in Farmington. I wish him all the best in his future ventures.

After Tom resigned, I began a search for a new Assistant Librarian in Portland. I am very pleased to announce that Sara Gallant, an M.A. student at Bangor Theological Seminary, began her duties in this position in October 2001. I am grateful for Sara’s contributions to this issue of the Bulletin, to the General Theological Library, and to the Seminary.

I would also like to thank Priscilla Hukki, who just graduated from the Seminary in May 2002, for contributing short reviews to the "selected acquisitions" section of this issue. Priscilla will be continuing her studies at The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia.

Due to this period of transition, the present issue of the Bulletin arrives later than expected. Once again, this is a combined issue (Fall 2001/Spring 2002). We will continue to produce three issues a year (Fall, Spring, and Summer) and apologize for the delay of this issue.

In addition to lengthier book reviews and several shorter reviews by Sara Gallant and Priscilla Hukki, this issue of the Bulletin contains a reflection I shared during our spring prospective student event.

Best wishes,

Beth Bidlack, Librarian
