Tentative plans are to stay two weeks, one week in Jerusalem, one week in
Galilee. We will try to do it on a low budget. Price for trip, overnights
and basic meals will be between $1700.00 and $2000.00. Students will be assigned
one site, write a research paper during the fall semester and give an oral
presentation on site in Israel. 3 credits

Asian Study Tour: Christian Witness in a Pluralistic Culture

Explore the cultural and religious practices of Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Thailand
and Hong Kong. Discover what it means to be a Christian in a religiously
pluralistic society. Chinese religious traditions and Buddhism will come alive
through opportunities to talk with religious leaders of other faiths, Christian
ministers, professors, and indigenous hill tribes. Interfaith dialogue will take
place at universities and religious centers including:
Tao Fong Shan Center and Lutheran Seminary, Hong Kong
Payap University and McGilvery Faculty of Theology, Chiang Mai
Center for Study of Religion and Culture in Southeast Asia, Chiang Mai
Mahachulalongkom Buddhist University, Bangkok
Readings on world religions and the cultural diversity of this region of the
world before will be assigned before departure. Participants will be
encouraged to form their own theological convictions amidst the cultural and
religious diversity of the world. The tour promises to be an educational and
spiritual journey of deep reflection, inter-religious dialogue, and personal
learning.
Church and Ministry Units (Graduate level) CMU343Orientation
to Leading Worship and Supply Preaching
Offers preparation for the responsibility of leading
worship and preaching in Protestant congregations. Requirements include
the preparation of a worship service and sermon which use the liturgical
resourses of the students' particular tradition, as well as the rationale for
the theme of the worship service and the type of sermon. This course includes
classroom exegetical work on lectionary texts and a brief historical survey of
the nature of Christian worship. Enrollment limited to 8. No
auditors. Scheduled TBA 1 credit
Independent Study 1790-1793Independent Study
Tutorials are available in every area of theological study. To do a directed study, a student and a full-time professor contract with each other for a definite amount of work, including meetings with the instructor, to be accomplished during the coming academic semester. The student is then responsible for fulfilling those
requirements. A student may take no more than four independent studies during the course of their degree. Scheduled Contracted with full-time faculty. 1-3 credits
