ART FOR SACRED
SPACE &TIME
NOVEMBER 12-27, 2001
BANGOR THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY GALLERY
In this show a variety of experiences of sacred space are offered. A program is provided to the right as you enter the gallery from the Hammond St. side of the building.
One of the exhibits:
‘The Welcome Table’
is a ‘quilt whose initial design was the collaborative effort of three people and whose final design will be the collaborative effort of all who choose to participate.
Directions for adding to the quilt:
You are invited to contribute a scrap of fabric from something that has meaning for you - an article of clothing, a tablecloth, a curtain, etc. You may also elect to select from the fabric provided. Cut the piece of fabric into a ‘person’ shape (similar to the ‘people’ already on the quilt). Decorate the ‘person’ as you wish. You may do this at home or here on campus. Cut a head out of the felt provided; you choose the color. Pin or glue or stitch the figure in place. Note the positioning of the pieces already around the table and follow suit. Add people in rows around the people around the table.
The quilt will be backed and quilted at quilting parties to be scheduled in January.
If you are interested in quilting, let Priscilla Hukki know when is most convenient time for you.
Your participation is more important than the quality of your stitching.
All are welcome at this table.
Please check the campus life page for more updates and information.
